The Liberals have badly mismanaged out federally-regulated trains and airports
On Labour Day weekend, one of the busiest travel times of the year, a VIA Rail train going from Montreal to Quebec City broke down and passengers were stuck for 10 agonizing hours with limited food and water. There was even a 90-minute period without power for A/C or bathroom access. Sadly, this is part of an awful pattern in Canada.
Today, Conservatives pushed for an emergency Transport meeting to get to the bottom of this. We need to address why, after 9 years, the Trudeau Liberals and successive Ministers of Transport have so badly mismanaged our federally-regulated trains and airports. They have allowed chaos to reign and Canadians are paying the price.
As usual, the Liberals blocked the part of our motion that would have held them to account on years of widespread travel chaos at our airports, on our rails and more. But common sense Conservatives did at least prevail in moving the part of the motion forward to study the recent VIA incident. We will keep fighting for accountability and better service for hardworking Canadians.
